Simple Tips to remove Sun Tan

Sun tan is a common problem that we have to deal with in summers. No matter how much you plan to avoid the sun, some minutes of exposure to the scorching sun rays is sufficient to give you a sun tan, especially if you have taken a holiday during the summers.

Here are some simple & natural ways to get rid of sun tan without any harmful bleaching chemicals and expensive products.


Lemon facial

Lemon is an excellent bleaching agent and helps remove sun tan.

Take four table spoons of sugar and add two table spoons of lemon juice to it. Mix it well and apply it to your face and allow it to stay for half an hour. After it is completely dry, scrub off the sugar from your face and then wash with warm water.

Lemon may sting so people with sensitive skin & acne should do a patch test before applying the mask.

Milk facial

Milk has cleansing, tan removal and skin smoothening properties. It can be applied directly and washed after fifteen minutes. You can also add a pinch of turmeric and some lemon juice to the milk.

Mulethi face pack

Add two table spoons of mulethi powder to a cup of yogurt and add a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply this mix to your skin and wash with warm water after 15 minutes.

Mulethi or liquorice has excellent skin lightening properties that work best with regular use.

Yogurt facial

Yogurt and buttermilk are very useful in removing tan and moisturizing the skin. Grind a few pieces of cucumber and tomato and add a cup of yogurt to it along with two table spoons of gram flour to form a face pack. Cucumber has cooling effect and helps repair skin tissue while tomato juice will help remove tan along with yogurt.

Oat facial

Oatmeal has exfoliating properties and can be used effectively to remove sun tan. Mix some oatmeal powder with yogurt or milk as available and make a smooth mix. Apply this to affected skin and allow it to stay for half an hour before washing with warm water.

Aloe vera

Apply Aloe Vera juice overnight and wash in the morning. Do this regularly and observe skin lightening effects.

Potato face pack

Potato can actually offer excellent solutions for skin tan. Take a few pieces of potato and grind it. Apply this to your skin and allow it to dry for half an hour and wash it with warm water.

Coconut water facial

Apply plain coconut water on your skin and allow it to stay for fifteen minutes before washing it off with cold water. It is capable of removing sun tan.

Almond face pack

Soak almonds overnight in water and remove their peel. Grind them and add some milk or milk cream to it. Apply this mix as a night pack and experience skin lightening benefits.

Cucumber face pack

Cucumber has cooling effect and also helps counter sun tan. Take a few pieces of cucumber and squeeze lemon and grind it. Add a pinch of turmeric and apply this to your skin. You can even add yogurt to this. Wash with cool water after allowing it to stay for fifteen minutes.

Papaya face pack

Grind a few pieces of papaya and apply it to your skin. Allowing it to remain for 15 minutes is sufficient to be able to visually notice skin lightening benefits.
