5 Tips to undo Sun Damage to Skin & Hair

Your skin and hair get damaged every day as you go out in the sun! Sun’s harmful rays cause skin darkening, dark spots, wrinkling, aging, tanning, hair discoloration, hair loss, dandruff issues and a host of other skin & hair problems.

Here are some simple tips to undo sun damage to your Skin & Hair.

1. Moisturize

Exposure to sun often leaves skin and hair dry. This hastens hair breakage and skin aging.

Take half a piece of ground papaya and two teaspoons of curd and make a paste by blending them together. Apply this as a pack at the end of the day to add natural moisture to skin.

Heat some coconut oil in a pan and let it cool down. Now add few pieces of crushed papaya and curd and blend the mixture. Massage your scalp and hair with this mixture and leave for at least 15 minutes. Wash with normal water. This is very effective in moisturizing dry hair.

2. De-tan

Sun tan is a common problem that many of us face with repeated sun exposure. First and foremost we must apply a sunscreen every time we step out in the sun.

To make further sure that you do not let your skin darken, apply butter milk or curd or milk to your face, hands, feet and other exposed parts after you come home and wash after 10 to 15 minutes.

This simple routine everyday helps reverse sun tan and prepare your skin for the next day.

3. Sun burn

Sun burns may be caused when you are exposed to harsh sun rays especially between 11 and 3 pm. Red grapes are effective in reversing sun burns. Freeze them, crush them and apply it to affected skin for best results.

4. Oily skin – Deal with it!

Apply tomato juice to your face and wash after 10 minutes to remove excess oil from the skin.

5. Hair care

Trim split ends regularly and avoid hair colouring as it removes natural pigments from hair that provide natural oil and nourishment to hair.

Wash your hair thrice a week with cold water and avoid bathing in warm water.

Cover your hair when you travel, avoid curling, blow drying, ironing etc. during summers as it can add to damage caused by sun.
